It may not have a fancy name like “Oscar,” “Emmy” or “Tony,” but winning the Central Station of the Year award is no less impressive for a security systems company.

DGA Security Systems won the coveted award for 2009, beating out scores of other companies. The honor was a testament to the professionalism, training and hard work that DGA employees exhibit every day.

“Central Station of the Year” was one of three awards earned by DGA at the Central Station Alarm Association’s (CSAA) Excellence Awards ceremony, held in Baltimore in late June. DGA also took home Central Station Manager of the Year, which was bestowed on James Riti. DGA’s Charlie Balletto was named honorable mention for the third category, Central Station Operator of the Year.

The CSAA Excellence Awards recognize UL-listed Central Stations and their outstanding personnel who significantly contribute to the alarm profession while providing exceptional service to their customers and community. Judged by a blue-ribbon panel, it was established to honor those who have made the most significant contributions to the industry and promote the distinctive level of professionalism attained by UL-Listed Central Stations.

Commitment to Quality

DGA issues more UL-Listed Central Station certificates than any other independent company in the United States. DGA is also one of a few central stations approved by the New York City Fire Department, adhering to unique procedural requirements and submitting to FDNY inspections. DGA works closely with the FDNY and is a founding member of the Approved Central Station Committee of the New York Fire Alarm Association.

DGA is also a member and sustaining donor of the Jewelers Security Alliance, which joins jewelers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s) to share information and develop best practices for reducing crime in the jewelry industry.

These credentials are vital in a competitive landscape where customers demand the very best of its security company. This is where DGA delivers every day.

“We regularly must meet the highest standards of quality in the performance of our services because our subscribers, who have such great value, trust us with that value on a daily basis,” said Stanley Oppenheim, founder and president of DGA. “On a daily basis, we are tested to the level of service that won us the award.”

Riti, the Central Station Manager of the Year, said the award reflects the round-the-clock teamwork that exists at DGA. “The only reason that DGA did so well at the 2009 awards is that there is a dedicated, professional and hard working staff that mans our central station,” he said. “Our central station also cannot function without the support of all of the other departments here at DGA and therefore, our victory is a victory for everyone at DGA.”

Winning two prestigious awards does not mean it is mission accomplished for DGA. Quite the contrary, the task has just begun, according to vice president Daniel Oppenheim. “There is no standing still … there’s always a higher bar of excellence to reach,” he said. “This win doesn’t confirm forever that we have a great central station. We have to stay honest with ourselves and always invest in and evolve the central station.”
